***Cianna #NerdGirlSunshine’s Review***
Women of the House doesn’t disappoint, much like, Jack Canon’s America Destiny, this book has the same sharp instinct, driving action, and political commentary. Jack Canon is set to be the next president; the drama doesn’t end there. It’s very interesting to see how the author weaves this tale. He pulls us in, and really takes us for a ride with this political thriller. You are warned, this book doesn’t slow down. There’s always a lot going on, and for active readers, it’s not an issue, but be warned if you don’t like constant high level pacing. I thought it helped keep my interest, it made the book fly by a lot quicker. There’s definitely an opinion to this book, but in a good way, the author shows us all the struggles that the president deals with, and what it causes him to do. Jack Canon became president with his firm ideals, and his American spirit, but will it stay strong in the face of all these other factors, people, and pressures? On top of the political thriller, you get Jack dealing with women, hence the title. He has his wife who he loves, but also his best friend and secretary, who is in love with him, and a few other beautiful women as well. Is this book realistic? Not completely, there are plot points that don’t feel as realistic as others, but overall, it’s a fiction, and it’s meant to be enjoyed. Did I enjoy this novel? Yes, I thought it was interesting, and a nice follow up to the first book. I’m not huge into political thrillers, but Greg’s story was written well, a little heavily detailed, but otherwise, very fun read.

Gabby, Angel of God         BOOK EXCERPT:

The door chimes at the top of the old door rang, signaling our arrival. Other than the little bells jingling, everything seemed too quiet. I quickly surveyed the room sensing something was wrong. More often than not you would get a friendly greeting when you entered a store, especially in a small one-person shop. The shopkeeper would normally be so glad to see a customer or have anyone stop by. Not here, not today, something was off. The store itself was normal – laid out the usual way with a few grocery isles to make the state happy. Maine has a stupid rule that small stores must stock at least a certain dollar figure of groceries in order to maintain a license to sell beer, wine, and cigarettes. That’s how the proprietor makes his money. To meet the requirement variety stores usually stock a few isles of dust covered groceries conveniently priced at three times normal. The right side of the store was reserved for groceries, leaving the left side of Zeb’s lined with a neat display of old- fashioned beer coolers. A dark oak, glass front counter had pride of the place at the back of the store. It was topped by and old-fashioned brass cash register. What seemed odd to me was the way the shopkeeper continued staring straight ahead without saying anything. Not even a friendly, “What can I do you for,” when we walked in. A tall, heavy-set biker stood faced toward the counter between the closest beer cooler and the center aisle. His massive bulk, greasy ponytail, and leather vest made him look ominous. Gorilla hairy except for his shaved arms completely inked with skulls, daggers, and black lettering. The words so stretched over his skin you could barely make out the ink. I always give guys like him a wide berth. “Don’t worry, Bo,” Gabby offered reassuringly as she walked straight up to the counter as if she hadn’t a care in the world. Standing side by side with the tattooed giant, “Do you have Tab,” she asked. “My boyfriend would like one.” Her voice was so cute I had to smile. I loved hearing Gabby call me her boyfriend. Even if it was just for show, I played along. The shopkeeper was shaking his head and biting his lip. I knew he wanted us to just turn around and walk away. The sooner the better, if I was judging his demeanor correctly. I was beginning to feel and sense things around Gabby. It felt like my brain was finally waking up from a long slumber and making connections that I never made before. The big man turned to face my angel, towering over her, even in her heels. “They’re fresh out, Missy,” he barked, trying to intimidate, “Why don’t you and your little girly man save yourself the trouble, and just leave.” The storekeeper’s eyes were pleading with us to go. Gabby was undaunted. She turned toward him, “Is that any way to speak to a lady, Wesley?” She asked so fearlessly. It was sexy. I’ve never seen anything like it and I was falling in love. “How did you know my name you prissy little bitch?” Gabby stood toe to toe with him. “The same way I know you’re wearing your mother’s underwear, you big pussy-ass fat bastard!” She’d obviously struck a nerve. Wesley breathed in deep and stood to his full height puffing out his chest. He lifted his fat arm, exposing a grotesque wad of black underarm hair. He pointed a platinum-plated 44 magnum at Gabby’s face. “I’ve heard about a fucking-nuff out of you, whore!” He snapped red faced obviously embarrassed by her perceptive reading of him. Gabby looked at him with contempt. “Oh, shut your bad breath, foul smelling, ugly trap, Wesley, you big-girl phony.” “Are you done? Slut!” He raged, “Who dies first,” he growled, “you or your little girlfriend.” He pointed the gun back toward me. “You wanna go first, Fuck!?” He asked, “Or maybe I should let you watch while your little bitch bleeds. How would you like that, Princess?” He cocked the gun. I was tiring of the fat man. I’ve been called wiry and rugged, even handsome, but never girly or princess. Gaby’s confidence inspired a supreme sense of calm. I was searching my memory for the right words, something droll to say. It wasn’t every day I had the protection of an angel of God. I wanted to say something that would impress her and make me sound cool, like Clint Eastwood. Before I could think of anything Gabby kicked her red heel high into the fat man’s chest, sending him flying into the closest beer cooler. With the force of a projectile, his body hit the back of the antique cooler, shattering through the glass doors and bursting the contents. Beer cans were flying out spurting everywhere, rolling past me squirting their foamy contents all over the floor. The heavy impact caused the store alarm to go off. It all felt surreal. What’s wrong with this picture? There was a dead body, broken glass, beer spraying all over the place. A half hour ago I was lying down on the seat plank of a picnic table taking a nap, relaxing. Now I’m accessory to murder, with an angel. That’s going to be tough to explain. Gabby turned to me, “Are you okay?” I was flabbergasted. “I didn’t know angels killed people?” “They don’t, Bo, that guy was already dead!” She whispered to me. Gabby looked at the body of the biker and whispered, “Jesus.” While the sweet fragrance of His name was still on her lips, a dark shadow left Wesley’s body, disappearing like black vapor through the sidewall of the store. “It’s going to be fine.” Gabby reassured the man behind the counter. She went to him and took his hand, giving it a gentle squeeze. He was understandably very upset. “You didn’t see anything. You don’t have to remember what happened.” “I didn’t see anything,” he repeated her words, shaky and dumbfounded. She turned to me, “Bo, we’d better go. You’re right; this would be tough to explain.” “You read my mind?” She grinned at me. “Yeah, get used to it.” “Did you know all this was going to happen?” Gabby shrugged. “No, I usually get my orders just before He needs me.” “Oh, you find out just before?” Gabby winked at me. “Don’t worry, He never gives me more than I can handle.” “Good thing!”?

Jack Canon’s Women of the House by @GregSandora #AmReading #Thriller

“You’d be like the Pied Piper of sex appeal.” He answered, his eyes glued to Sandy’s milky white thighs.
“Thanks, Tip, I guess that’s a compliment –right?”
Tip was looking like he wanted to ask her a question.
“Tip, is there something on your mind,” Sandy asked, being nice.
“I wanted to ask you…I mean see if you would tell me, why I have so much trouble…”
“With women?” Finishing his question, stating the obvious.
“This should be good,” I said, handing Sandy my card, “Get something nice for you, too.”
“Tip, you watching? – Jack knows how to treat a woman. It’s a wonder you haven’t picked up anything—being around him all this time.”
“I just thought he had some sort of special charisma or something I don’t.” Tip answered.
“Well you’re right about the charisma, but really there’s something else – and I think it would help, but you’ve got to be honest.”
“What,” Tip asked anxiously—genuinely wanting pointers.
“The first time I met Jack, he didn’t mention he was a Senator. I walked into an old mattress store – not knowing what I was going to find—Jack looked into my eyes… like an equal. Sure, since then he’s put me on a pedestal, but let me ask you, Tip. What’s the first thing you see when you look at a woman? Be brutally honest – just this once, I won’t mind. “
“I don’t know – it’s different every time, I usually focus on something that catches my eye—like boobs, hair, legs –Tip explained like he’d be getting extra credit for being thorough.
Sandy shook her head, “It’s worse than I thought. You know what I felt the first time Jack looked at me?”
“What?” Tip asked, curious.
“Like… he saw me – as a person – a whole person, not just an object.”
“Tip, when I look at a woman as parts it’s intimidating for me, too.” I said, trying to make him feel better.
Sandy crossed her leg and starting rolling her ankle, “Tip, what do you see when you look at me?”
“You want me to be honest?”
“Of course—I can’t help you if you’re not.”
“Well today I noticed your hips, but I always love your soft doe face.”
Sandy looked puzzled, “Soft doe face? What is that?”
“He means you have a very feminine pretty face – there’s no hardness in it.”
Tip added, “The women I see usually have rougher facial features.”
“Where are you meeting these girls, Tip?”
“Strip clubs mostly.”
“That’s nasty Tip! Ewe!”
“Beautiful woman are intimidating – at the clubs the girls are really friendly, easy going.”
“They’re friendly because it’s their job – they’re easy because you’re paying them—would you want to marry a girl from one of your clubs?”
“No, but I feel comfortable. I know it’s a job.”
“Gross, Tip, that’s so sad.”
“A lot of agents have trouble meeting women.”
“You need some serious help!” Sandy sounded like a concerned sister.
I coaxed, “He needs a good woman, – do you think you could introduce him to one of your girlfriends?”
“I’d really appreciate any advice you could give me, Sandy.” Tip was sincere.
“Tip’s not ready for one of my friends – seriously the girls I know are very needy emotionally – he’d be lost.”
Trying to help persuade her, “So, you’re basically resigning him to a life of strip clubs and hookers?”
Sandy looked at me wide-eyed, raising her eyebrows, “Crude, Jack, you’re enjoying this aren’t you.” She turned to Tip, “You’re a good man, – you deserve to be happy. Tell me Tip, what do you think women want?”
“I don’t really know – I guess – to be made happy?”
“So how would you do it then – make a girl happy that is?”
“Agree with her, make her feel important, give her things I guess.”
“That’s a start, but a woman needs so much more. She wants someone who can share in her emotions without being swallowed up by them. A man who will take his time with her and make time for her—She doesn’t want to be rushed, but still likes spontaneity and excitement. She wants to feel like your equal and be respected for what she brings to the relationship. And, I’m just scratching the surface here.”
“Men…do all this?”
“Some do—Jack does this stuff—he’s kind… caring—he listens. Jack enjoys what women are all about—He looks with great passion. Tip,—she wants to know that you’re desirable to other women and she didn’t just get stuck with you.”
“What about…?” Tip stopped himself, embarrassed.
“The bedroom…She’ll forgive you. Don’t worry she’ll follow your lead. Just don’t make her feel bad by talking about it later. That’s the one place you can sort of be yourself…I can’t believe I’m saying this—the poor thing …take it slow.”
“Are there classes?”
“A good woman will teach you.”
“Did Jack know all this?”
“Are you kidding? All he had was a smile when I met him – and a wandering eye. It’s taken me years of subtle clues and hints to train him.”
“Some not so subtle,” I said, poking fun.
“She wants a friend – but not a guy that makes her feel responsible to make the first move or like she’s a locker room pal.”
Tip looked puzzled, “I’m lost.”
“Jack, just for fun – tell Tip what you’re really thinking… right now.”
“You’re serious –now? No holds barred – what I’m really thinking?”
“Yes, something you’d normally never share with me.”
Tip chuckled, “This oughta be good.”
“Before you do… let me guess.” Sandy squinted and looked up to the left then to the right –
“Something about my panties?”
“Close—what was left of those cutoffs you were wearing that day by the lake.”
“I was really close then. Tip, what did you think Jack was thinking?”
“I would have said World peace – you know to make you happy.”
“Coward- okay tell the truth what are you thinking right now?”
“The truth… really? – what it would be like – you know…if you were my girlfriend.” Sandy rolled her eyes, pursing her lips.
“Not going to happen- but I’ll help. We just have to start really slow.”
“Jack gets to say what’s on his mind and you’re okay with it?”
“There’s a lot of trust built up that you and I don’t share. Stop whining – that’s a deal killer for sure.”
“You asked though. I thought you wanted honesty?”
“Sometimes…oh forget it…”
Tip cut her off, “Am I a lost cause then?”
“No, I didn’t say…don’t feel like that – we’ve got something to work with. You’re good looking – dangerous – you might be a girl’s worst mistake, at least for the first few, but you’ll learn as you go.”
“So will you set me up with one of your friends? One who looks most like you—preferably?”
“Sweet, Tip…, but wrong. Not when you don’t understand the first thing about a woman. They’d thank me at first, but you wouldn’t last two weeks with one of my friends – try to imagine flying too close to a super nova. They’d burn you up and drag you into an emotional black hole. You’d never escape!”
“I can keep a woman safe, at least.”
“Of course you can. A woman wants to feel safe, understood, but she also wants a man that isn’t afraid of her -someone who can be honest. Tell her the truth once in a while. Then grab her and make love without asking. A woman wants to live the full range—she wants you to be able to feel her emotions with her – from misery to elation. Can you do that?”
“I can try.”
“That-a-boy, let’s go out sometime and find you someone suitable. A starter girlfriend.”
“That will be great, are you free tonight?”
“Tonight? I guess so – you don’t need for anything, do you, Jack?”
“No I’m good – take him out – it’s on me.” I was happy to make the offer. Sandy would have a project and I wouldn’t feel guilty about leaving her behind.
“We’ll find you a girl with a doe face. You’ll have to show me – but once I know – I’m sure we can find you one. If that’s what you want.”
“Really? This will be great. Sandy, I’ll owe you!”
“You’ll owe me big time!”
